About Bellara
Bellara is a coastal suburb on the western side of Bribie Island in the City of Moreton Bay, situated on the Pumicestone Channel which separates the island from the mainland. The name is reportedly an Aboriginal word meaning good, approved by the Queensland Place Names Board in 1961. Connected to the mainland via the Bribie Island Bridge at Sandstone Point, Bellara features the Sylvan Beach Esplanade with views of the Glass House Mountains and serves as a quiet residential hub with a relaxed island character.
