About Slade Point
Slade Point is a coastal town and peninsular suburb in the Mackay Region of Queensland, about 9 km north of central Mackay. The headland, originally named Point Slade, was named by James Cook on his 1770 voyage after Sir Thomas Slade, Surveyor of the Navy and designer of HMS Victory. The suburb sits on a peninsula ringed by sandy coastline, including Harbour Beach and the popular Lamberts Beach.
