About Alligator Creek (Mackay - Qld)
Alligator Creek is a coastal rural locality in the Mackay Region of Queensland, about 28 kilometres south of Mackay on the Coral Sea coast. Dudgeon Point headland projects into the sea at the northern end of the locality, while Mount Hector rises 55 metres above sea level at the mouth of Louisa Creek, and the Alligator Creek State School, opened in 1896, serves the semi-rural community and neighbouring Hay Point. The locality lies within reach of the major coal export terminals at Hay Point to the northeast.
