About North Maclean

North Maclean is a locality in the City of Logan, Queensland, located 45.4 kilometres south-southwest of the Brisbane central business district. Originally known as Logan Bridge after a low-level bridge across the Logan River that existed since 1860, the area was later named Maclean, probably after Alexander Grant McLean, acting Surveyor General of New South Wales from 1856 to 1861. The Mount Lindesay Highway runs through the locality, the Logan River forms the eastern and southern boundary and the Sydney to Brisbane rail corridor forms the western boundary. Tully Memorial Park on the Mount Lindesay Highway has sporting fields and a plaque commemorating Patrick Logan's crossing of the river in July 1828. The Australian Technology and Agricultural College is a private secondary school focusing on agricultural and industrial careers. The locality was formerly in the Shire of Beaudesert and became part of Logan City after the March 2008 amalgamations.
