About New Beith
New Beith is a rural residential locality in the City of Logan, Queensland, located approximately 39 kilometres south-southwest of the Brisbane central business district. Named in 1889 by solicitor Richard Tyson Wilson after his wife Cecelia's hometown of Beith in Ayrshire, Scotland, the area was historically used for grazing and timber cutting with sawmills along Oxley Creek processing eucalypts. The suburb has experienced rapid growth driven by demand for acreage-style properties within commuting distance of Brisbane.
