About Bahrs Scrub
Bahrs Scrub is an urban locality in the City of Logan, Queensland, Australia, located approximately 4 kilometres south-west of Beenleigh and 41 kilometres south-east of Brisbane's central business district. Originally covered in dense scrub vegetation on the hilly northern tip of the Darlington Range, the area was home to the Gugingin people prior to European settlement. The locality is named after early German settler Carl Wilhelm Bahr (born 1840) or his son Wilhelm Bahr, though the name may alternatively derive from the earlier designation "Jimmybark Scrub," recorded in 1866. Windaroo Creek, a tributary of the Albert River, rises in Bahrs Scrub and flows eastward through the locality. Formerly part of the Albert Shire and later the City of Gold Coast, Bahrs Scrub was transferred to Logan City Council in 2008. The area has undergone significant residential development in recent decades, while the western portion retains rural acreages with remnant rainforest.
