About Lanefield

Lanefield is a rural locality in the City of Ipswich, about 3.7 kilometres west-south-west of Rosewood, named after pioneer settlers John and Clara Lane whose farm stood near the railway. The area was historically important for dairying from the 1890s and coal mining from 1918 to around 1970, with the Main Line railway passing through the locality.
