About Rosewood (Qld)

Rosewood is a rural town in the City of Ipswich, situated in the Bremer Valley 60 kilometres south-west of Brisbane. Named after the rosewood tree (Acacia fasciculifera) abundant in the area, the town grew around a wayside hotel after the railway passed through in 1865. The heritage-listed police complex and courthouse date from 1908, and St Brigid Church, opened in 1910, is a significant timber-framed church with pressed metal interior. The Rosewood Railway museum operates on a section of the former Marburg branch line.
