About Fernvale (Qld)
Fernvale is a rural town on the Brisbane River in the Somerset Region of Queensland, about 35 km west of central Brisbane. It began as a camping place on the road from Ipswich to Esk, was known early as Stinking Gully and Harrisborough, and became a centre for cotton growing in the late 1800s. The town's railway station opened in 1884; the disused line is now part of the Brisbane Valley Rail Trail.
