About Wivenhoe Pocket

Wivenhoe Pocket is a rural locality in the Somerset Region of south-east Queensland, positioned along the Brisbane River near Fernvale and the Lake Wivenhoe district. Named after an early pastoral run managed by Edmund Blucher Uhr, which he named after the town of Wivenhoe in Essex, England, the area was opened for selection in 1877 when 5,500 acres were resumed from the run. It lies 13 kilometres north-east of Lowood and 68 kilometres west of Brisbane.
