About Ellen Grove
Ellen Grove is an outer south-western suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, located approximately 24 kilometres south-west of the central business district. The area was subdivided for housing around 1959, and the suburb name was officially gazetted in 1962 following advocacy by the Ellen Grove Progress Association. It derives from Ellen Dabing, daughter of early landowner R.P. Spinks, who played with local Aboriginal children in a grove of trees along Bullockhead Creek. The Centenary Highway traverses the suburb from north to south, and its southern boundary is partially defined by the Logan Motorway. The Richlands and Inala reservoirs, key water infrastructure, are situated within the suburb.
