About Camira (Qld)

Camira is a residential suburb about 21 km southwest of Brisbane CBD in the City of Ipswich, its name derived from an Aboriginal word meaning "windy." Transitioning from rural land known as "Sandy Waterholes" to a suburban community in the 1970s, it features parks along Sandy Creek and a heritage-listed Aboriginal bora ring near Kertes Road. The Centenary Motorway and Springfield railway line form its eastern boundary, and it adjoins Greenbank Military Camp to the south.
