About Mudgeeraba
Mudgeeraba is a town and suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, located at the base of the Springbrook Plateau foothills along Mudgeeraba Creek, a tributary of the Nerang River. The name derives from the Kombumerri people's language, possibly meaning "low-lying ground" or "place of sticky soil". European timber getters and cattle graziers settled the district from the 1850s, and the town rose to prominence with the opening of the South Coast railway in 1903. The village retains its nineteenth-century character with traditional timber buildings and large rural lots, serving as a gateway to the Gold Coast hinterland.
