About Mermaid Waters

Mermaid Waters is a residential canal suburb of the City of Gold Coast in Queensland, located seven kilometres south of Surfers Paradise and 83 kilometres south-south-east of Brisbane. The suburb derives its name from HMS Mermaid, the cutter ship that brought Australian surveyor John Oxley to the region in 1823. Many homes are built along artificial canals and lakes including the 17 hectare fresh water Lake Hugh Muntz. The Q Super Centre is a major shopping hub and nearby Pacific Fair in Broadbeach Waters is one of the largest shopping centres on the Gold Coast.
