About Clear Island Waters

Clear Island Waters is an affluent residential suburb in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, situated approximately 7 kilometres south-southwest of Surfers Paradise. The suburb takes its name from Clear Island Road, a rural track that once ran through the area but was largely submerged during canal estate development in the early 1990s. Prior to development, the land comprised dairy farmland in the south and wetlands in the north. The suburb was officially gazetted on 25 February 1989 and developed through the 1990s as a series of canal estates, including Island Quay, Rhode Island, and Santa Cruz. It is defined by its artificial freshwater lake and interconnected canal system, which connects via Boobegan Creek to the Nerang River and the Broadwater.
