About Gilston

Gilston is a rural residential locality in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, located nine kilometres south of Nerang and 17 kilometres west-south-west of Surfers Paradise. Settlement began in the 1860s with dairying and timber, and the area was named by local storekeeper Mr Bryant after Gilston in England. Gilston State School, opened in 1881, is the oldest school in the area. The Grand Golf Club features a 19-hole course designed by Greg Norman. The heritage-listed H2 Hinde Tree, a macadamia integrifolia, is at 926 Gilston Road.
