About Alberton (Qld)
Alberton is a rural locality in the City of Gold Coast, Queensland, situated approximately 13 kilometres east of Beenleigh and bounded by the Logan and Albert Rivers. The Aboriginal name for the area was Wobbomerijee, meaning muddy place, and European settlement began in 1863 when German immigrants arrived. The Ageston sugar plantation and mill operated from 1866 to the 1890s, and the area was later named after Prince Albert, consort to Queen Victoria.
