About Woopen Creek
Woopen Creek is a rural locality in the wet tropics hinterland between Cairns and Innisfail, approximately 19 kilometres south-south-west of Babinda. The Russell River forms its northern boundary, and the flatter valleys are used for sugarcane and banana farming while the surrounding mountainous terrain, including the foothills of Mount Bartle Frere, remains undeveloped.
