About Mission Beach

Mission Beach is a coastal town and locality in the Cassowary Coast Region of Queensland, Australia, located 139 kilometres south of Cairns. Comprising four villages along 14 kilometres of palm-fringed beach, it is the closest mainland point to the Great Barrier Reef. It serves as the gateway to Dunk Island and Bedarra Island and is home to the endangered southern cassowary.
