About Kewarra Beach
Kewarra Beach is a coastal suburb of Cairns in Far North Queensland, about 19 km north of the city centre between the Coral Sea and Kuranda National Park. Its name is said to derive from an Aboriginal word meaning 'at the foot of the rainbow', and the area was sugar cane land before residential development from the 1970s.
