About Mount Ommaney
Mount Ommaney is a south-western riverside suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, about 16 km by road from the CBD, sitting on the southern bank of the Brisbane River. Most of the suburb's properties are on the hill of the same name, named after John Mansell Ommaney, a young man who died in a riding accident on the estate in 1856. The suburb was developed from 1959 as part of the LJ Hooker Centenary Project, and a large section of protected bushland, including a former stone quarry site, remains.
