About Enoggera Reservoir
Enoggera Reservoir is an outer north-western suburb in the City of Brisbane, Queensland, located about 19.2 kilometres west-northwest of Brisbane CBD in The Gap Ward. Named after the Enoggera Dam constructed from 1864 to 1866 as the first major dam built in Queensland and the second in Australia, the name Enoggera derives from the Yuggera word yauar-ngari meaning corroboree ground. The dam was decommissioned in 2003 then reactivated in 2006 during drought, and during the 2022 eastern Australia floods it reached 270 percent capacity, with the dam and Slab Hut Farm listed on the Queensland Heritage Register.
