About Algester
Algester is a family-friendly residential suburb about 18 km southwest of Brisbane's CBD, sitting on the boundary between Brisbane and Logan City. The name derives from a corruption of the English town Alcester and was officially gazetted in 1972. Known for its multicultural community with around 40 per cent of residents born overseas, the suburb features Col Bennett Park and is close to Sunnybank Hills Shoppingtown.
