About Wilston
Wilston is an inner-northern suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, located approximately five kilometres from the CBD on elevated terrain between Enoggera Creek and Kedron Brook. The area was originally home to the Turrbal people before European settlement. The suburb takes its name from Wilston House, a heritage-listed Georgian-style villa built around 1876 for William Wilson, a member of the Queensland Legislative Council, who named it after his family home in County Fermanagh, Ireland. Notable features include Wilston Village on Kedron Brook Road, the heritage-listed Wilston House set on a prominent hilltop, Eildon Hill with its expansive views, and the Kedron Brook Bikeway. The suburb contains a mix of well-preserved Queenslander homes and contemporary residences, with its railway station providing direct access to the Brisbane CBD.
