About Bowen Hills
Bowen Hills is an inner north-eastern suburb of Brisbane, Queensland, Australia, located 3.2 kilometres north-northeast of the Brisbane CBD, situated on elevated terrain including Montpelier hill. Named after Queensland Governor Sir George Ferguson Bowen, the area was originally inhabited by the Chepara people, who called the higher ground Barrambin meaning "windy place". Key landmarks include the Brisbane Exhibition Grounds, home to the annual Royal Queensland Show (Ekka), the heritage-listed Old Museum Building, and Bowen Park, a pleasure garden dating to 1862. The suburb is well served by rail and major road tunnels, including the Inner City Bypass and Clem7.
