About Mount Cotton

Mount Cotton is a rural locality in the City of Redland, Queensland, south-east of Brisbane. The mountain it is named for was named by surveyor Robert Dixon after Major Sydney Cotton, commandant of the Moreton Bay penal settlement. Germans settled the area in the late 1860s, and it is home to the heritage-listed St Paul's Lutheran Church, the Mount Cotton Hillclimb and the Sirromet Winery.
