About Birkdale
Birkdale stretches from Tingalpa Creek to the shores of Waterloo Bay on Moreton Bay. Once a rural area of orchards and poultry farms, it is now a residential suburb anchored by the Aquatic Paradise canal estate and the Tarradarrapin Wetlands, an important habitat for migratory birds. The 62-hectare Birkdale Community Precinct includes a heritage-listed US Army radio station that received the first message of Japan's WWII surrender.
