About Wanguri

Wanguri is a northern suburb of Darwin in the City of Darwin, Northern Territory, located 13.8 kilometres from the Darwin central business district. Named after a clan of the Dangu Aboriginal people whose land is in east Arnhem Land near Caledon Bay, the suburb is on the traditional Country and waterways of the Larrakia people. Established in 1972, Wanguri is one of Darwin's northern suburbs built before Cyclone Tracy in 1974. Streets are mostly named after early Greek residents of Darwin. The suburb is in the territory electorate of Wanguri and the federal Division of Solomon. The suburb had a population of 1,876 at the 2016 census.
