About Farrar

Farrar is an outer eastern suburb of Palmerston in the Northern Territory, located 21.7 kilometres from the Darwin central business district. Named after John Farrar, a pastoral pioneer of the Northern Territory, the suburb was originally part of Gunn when Palmerston was divided in 1984 and was renamed from a portion of Gunn in 1999. The suburb is on traditional Larrakia Country and is part of the Palmerston eastern suburbs growth corridor. Bounded to the north and east by the Stuart Highway and to the west by Roystonea Avenue, development of the eastern suburbs did not start until the 1990s. The suburb is in the territory electorate of Brennan and the federal Division of Lingiari. The suburb had a population of 1,518 at the 2016 census.
