About Buxton (NSW)
Buxton is a small village in the Macarthur Region of Sydney in New South Wales, within Wollondilly Shire. It developed around a railway station opened in 1883 on the Main Southern Railway, and is named after Buxton in Derbyshire, England. After the main line was deviated via Bargo in 1919, the original line through the village became the Picton Loop, which closed in 1978. Buxton is bordered by Thirlmere Lakes National Park and the Bargo State Recreation Area.
