About Tahmoor
Tahmoor is a small town in the Macarthur Region of New South Wales, in the Wollondilly Shire, located approximately 75 kilometres southwest of the Sydney central business district. Originally named Myrtle Creek, the town was renamed in 1919 when the Main Southern railway line opened with a station named Tahmoor, a local Aboriginal word for the common bronzewing pigeon. The Bargo River passes just south of the town, and the area was part of the traditional lands of the Gundungurra and Dharawal Aboriginal communities.
