About Abermain

Abermain is a town in the City of Cessnock in the Hunter Region of New South Wales, located eight kilometres east-north-east of Cessnock and 42 kilometres north-west of Newcastle. Established in 1903, the suburb is adjacent to the Werakata National Park. In 1882, Professor Sir Tannatt William Edgeworth David surveyed the area for coal potential, and Australia's second Mine Rescue Station was constructed in 1926.
