About Pelaw Main
Pelaw Main is a hamlet a few kilometres south-west of Kurri Kurri in the Hunter Region of New South Wales. It owes its existence to the Pelaw Main Colliery, opened by J & A Brown on the Greta coal seam in December 1900 and a major local employer until it closed in 1962. The village keeps its primary school, opened in 1903, and residents now shop in nearby Kurri Kurri.
