About Barry (Blayney - NSW)
Barry is a small village in the Central West region of New South Wales, in Blayney Shire. It was originally called Five Islands, after the prospector Edward Hargraves who was one of its first occupants, and was renamed Barry in 1890, probably in honour of Caleb Barry, a former bank manager of Blayney. A school was built in 1862, and today the village retains St James Anglican Church, the school and a community hall among mostly unsealed streets.
