About Carcoar
Carcoar is a small town in the Central West region of New South Wales, in Blayney Shire, situated on both banks of the Belubula River in a small green valley off the Mid-Western Highway. It was gazetted in 1839 as the third oldest settlement west of the Blue Mountains. The National Trust-classified village retains many preserved 19th-century buildings, and the name is believed to be a Gundungurra word meaning 'frog' or 'kookaburra'.
