About Blayney
Blayney is a farming town and administrative centre in the Central West of New South Wales, on the Mid-Western Highway about 240 km west of Sydney and 35 km west of Bathurst, and the seat of Blayney Shire Council. Surveyed in 1843 on the traditional lands of the Wiradjuri people, the town grew after the railway arrived in the 1870s and replaced nearby Carcoar as the district's major service centre. It developed industries such as butter making, freezing works and a chicory mill, and heritage-listed lime kilns beside the cemetery recall its industrial past.
