About Phillip
Phillip is a suburb of Canberra in the Australian Capital Territory, situated in the centre of the Woden Valley district approximately 11 kilometres south-southwest of the city centre. Established in 1966, the suburb is named after Arthur Phillip, the first Governor of New South Wales, and its streets reference the First, Second, and Third Fleets of early European settlement. Phillip contains the Woden Town Centre, Westfield Woden, and Lovett Tower, the tallest commercial office building in Canberra. Notable features include Eddison Park, the Phillip Swimming and Ice Skating Centre, Woden Cemetery, Canberra College, and the Swinger Hill estate with heritage-listed townhouses.
