About Mawson
Mawson is a suburb in the Woden Valley district of Canberra, gazetted in 1966 and named after the Antarctic explorer Sir Douglas Mawson. Streets in the suburb are named after Antarctic explorers and locations. Part of Canberra's first satellite town, Mawson features homes from the late 1960s through the 1980s and includes the Mawson shopping centre.
