About Glass House Mountains

Glass House Mountains is a town and locality in the Sunshine Coast Region of Queensland, in the hinterland behind the volcanic peaks that James Cook named in 1770. The town grew around a railway station opened in 1890, and a 1903 land auction promoting pineapple farms helped establish the district as a centre of pineapple growing.
