About Ardeer

Ardeer is a suburb of Melbourne, Victoria, 15 kilometres west of the central business district, within the City of Brimbank. The suburb takes its name from Ardeer in Scotland, home of the Nobel explosives works: the Australian subsidiary of the Glasgow firm took over the nearby Deer Park explosives plant in the 1920s and built housing there for its workers. Kororoit Creek runs through Ardeer, and Ardeer railway station on the Serviceton line serves the suburb.
