About Clackline
Clackline is a historic Wheatbelt village in Western Australia, about 80 kilometres east-north-east of Perth and 17 kilometres south-west of Northam within the Shire of Northam. First recorded by explorer John Forrest in 1879, the settlement grew around the junction of the Perth-Newcastle Road and became an important railway hub before the Avon Valley route bypassed it in 1966. The heritage-listed Clackline Brook Bridge and a restored railway carriage serve as reminders of its transport history.
