About Bakers Hill

Bakers Hill is a town in the Shire of Northam in Western Australia, on the Great Eastern Highway between Wundowie and Clackline, about 73 km east of Perth. Established in 1897 as Mount Baker, it was renamed Baker's Hill in 1902 to avoid confusion with the town of Mount Barker in the Great Southern, and the apostrophe was dropped in 1944. It was a station on the Eastern Railway until that line closed in 1966, and during World War II it was the base of the 62nd Field Park Company of the Royal Australian Engineers.
