About Drummond Cove
Drummond Cove is a coastal town located 12 kilometres north of Geraldton in the City of Greater Geraldton, Western Australia. Originally known as Smugglers Cove for its use in illegal sandalwood export to evade government royalty, the locality was renamed after John Nicol Drummond, First Constable of the Native Police, who acquired land in 1851. Gazetted as a locality in 1985, in the 1930s Macedonian families established tomato gardens along Chapman Road and cray fishermen arrived in the 1940s building shacks overlooking the cove. In 1950, 30 acres were resumed from White Peak Station as a beach camping site with 24 cottage blocks created. The locality is on Yamatji Country.
