About Maitland (WA)
Maitland is a rural locality in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, within the City of Karratha, on the coastal plains of the Maitland River. The river flows through the traditional lands of the Ngaluma people to the Indian Ocean and was once a landing for wool from local pastoral stations. The locality holds the Maitland Strategic Industrial Area, zoned for heavy industry processing natural gas, iron ore and salt.
