About Fortescue (WA)
Fortescue is a vast, remote locality in the Pilbara region of Western Australia, approximately 200 kilometres south of Karratha within the Shire of Ashburton. Named after the Fortescue River, the area is an active iron ore mining region characterised by ancient Pilbara rock formations and sparse spinifex vegetation.
