About Waterford (WA)
Waterford is a small riverside suburb of Perth in the City of South Perth, Western Australia, situated on the Canning River near Curtin University. Originally part of Karawara, the suburb was renamed Waterford in the 1980s after the birthplace of Edmund Rice, founder of the Christian Brothers, in Ireland. Streets reflect an Irish theme, named after places in Ireland. From 1901, the Christian Brothers allocated land for Clontarf Orphanage on two square kilometres south of Manning Road, now known as Clontarf Aboriginal College. Portions of Trinity College land were progressively sold and subdivided for housing from 1981.
