About Shelley (WA)

Shelley is a suburb of Perth, Western Australia, located approximately 14 kilometres south-east of the city within the City of Canning. Bounded by the Canning River and Leach Highway, it lies on Whadjuk Noongar Country. Formerly part of Riverton, Shelley was gazetted as a separate suburb in the mid-1960s, its name deriving from shells found on the Canning River's shores. Much of its land was reclaimed from the river by the Shire of Canning in 1960, creating the Shelley Foreshore Reserve, a notable riverside parkland.
