About Yoongarillup

Yoongarillup is a rural locality in the South West of Western Australia, about 11 km from Busselton in the City of Busselton, on the traditional lands of the Wardandi Noongar people. Its name comes from the Wardandi dialect of the Noongar language, meaning roughly 'by the Nyungar who come to burn this district'. The locality was home to Western Australia's Spanish Settlement, when families from Catalonia settled here between 1906 and 1909 to grow potatoes, fruit and grapes, becoming renowned winemakers.
