About Redcastle
Redcastle is a rural locality in central Victoria, located about 45 kilometres east of Bendigo and 18 kilometres north of Heathcote. Established in 1859 as the Balmoral Diggings, it was an isolated goldfield between the McIvor and Waranga diggings, and today retains visible evidence of its mining past with abandoned mine shafts and heritage-listed sites amid surrounding state forest. The locality now supports quiet rural grazing and is near the Heathcote wine region.
