About Gobarup
Gobarup is a rural locality in the Campaspe Shire of central Victoria, about 20 kilometres from Rochester. The landscape consists of open farmland with grey box and buloke woodland on alluvial plains, while the southeastern part of the locality features distinctive sandstone ridge bushland within the Gobarup Nature Conservation Reserve, which includes the Fontainebleau Dam and a thirteen kilometre hiking trail through grass trees and old diggings. Scrubby Creek drains the area, and the Yorta Yorta and Taungurung people are the traditional custodians.
